“We’re like a family.”

It sounds nice. Makes for a good careers page slogan. Looks great in a slide deck. But here’s the thing.

Your company isn’t a family. It’s a business.
Your team isn’t a family. It’s a team.

And when you treat it like a family, you create problems that hold people back…
